This paper presents a low-power, high-gain integrator design that uses a cascode operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) with floating inverter–amplifier (FIA) assistance. Compared to a traditional cascode, the proposed integrator can achieve a gain of 80 dB, while reducing power consumption by 30%. Upon completing the analysis, the value of the FIA drive capacitor and clock scheme for the FIA-assisted OTA were obtained. To enhance the dynamic range (DR) and mitigate quantization noise, a tri-level quantizer was employed. The design of the feedback digital-to-analog converter (DAC) was simplified, as it does not use additional mismatch shaping techniques. A thirdorder, discrete-time delta–sigma modulator was designed and fabricated in a 0.18 μm complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) process. It operated on a 1.8 V supply, consuming 221 μW with a 24 kHz bandwidth. The measured SNDR and DR were 90.9 dB and 95.3 dB, respectively....
The fundamental frequency plays a significant part in understanding and perceiving the pitch of a sound. The pitch is a fundamental attribute employed in numerous speech-related works. For fundamental frequency extraction, several algorithms have been developed which one to use relies on the signal’s characteristics and the surrounding noise. Thus, the algorithm’s noise resistance becomes more critical than ever for precise fundamental frequency estimation. Nonetheless, numerous state-of-the-art algorithms face struggles in achieving satisfying outcomes when confronted with speech recordings that are noisy with low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) values. Also, most of the recent techniques utilize different frame lengths for pitch extraction. From this point of view, This research considers different frame lengths on male and female speech signals for fundamental frequency extraction. Also, analyze the frame length dependency on the speech signal analytically to understand which frame length is more suitable and effective for male and female speech signals specifically. For the validation of our idea, we have utilized the conventional autocorrelation function (ACF), and state-of-the-art method BaNa. This study puts out a potent idea that will work better for speech processing applications in noisy speech. Keyword spotting is an important part of modern speech recognition pipelines. Typical contemporary keyword-spotting systems are based on Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficient (MFCC) audio features, which are relatively complex to compute. Considering the always-on nature of many keyword-spotting systems, it is prudent to optimize this part of the detection pipeline. We explore the simplifications of the MFCC audio features and derive a simplified version that can be more easily used in embedded applications. Additionally, we implement a hardware generator that generates an appropriate hardware pipeline for the simplified audio feature extraction. Research in music education has shown that musical and academic self-concept, the social component, task achievement, and academic performance are highly interrelated constructs in musical learning in general and instrumental learning in particular in secondary school students. However, no studies in Spain have analyzed the relationship between musical self-concept and the variables of social support and optimism in compulsory secondary education. Therefore, our study aimed to explore the relationships between instrumental musical self-concept, social support, and grounded optimism. We hypothesize that there is a significant relationship between the variables of musical selfconcept, social support, and grounded optimism The variables were measured using the Instrumental Musical Self-Concept Scale (IMSCS), an adaptation of the Perceived Social Support Scale in Spanish Conservatory Music Students to the Secondary School Level, and the Grounded Optimism Scale (BEEGC-RA/BEECESA-RA24). The study sample consisted of 980 students enrolled in compulsory secondary education in public and semi-private schools in the autonomous communities of Aragon and Navarra. An analysis of correlations and regressions allowed us to explore and quantify the relationship among the variables under study, confirming the existence of a significant relationship among the variables “instrumental musical self-concept”, “social support” and “grounded optimism”. The present study thus provides more in-depth knowledge of the variables involved in the teaching– learning process of music as a school subject and instrumental music in particular, as well as a greater knowledge of the individual’s performance and motivation in the subject, with various future implications to be taken into account....
The article extends the theoretical and applicative analysis of Zipf’s law. We are concerned with a set of properties of Zipf’s law that derive directly from the power law expression and from the discrete nature of the objects to which the law is applied, when the objects are words, lemmas, and the like. We also search for variations of Zipf’s law that can help explain the noisy results empirically reported in the literature and the departures of the empirically obtained nonlinear graph from the theoretical linear one, with the variants analyzed differing from Mandelbrot and lognormal distributions. A problem of interest that we deal with is that of mixtures of populations obeying Zipf’s law. The last problem has relevance in the analysis of texts with words with various etymologies.
